SOUTHERN ROVER OWNERS’ CLUB LTD.

CLUB LEAGUES

This page has links to the current listings for all the trials and comp’ safari leagues, plus the qualifying status of any eligible members.
NOTE: All the tables are in the process of being updated.

It isn't the first time that a lack of qualification has had an effect on the results of the leagues, but if you don't do your bit to help the club run events, you won't get a pot at the AGM! To finish first you first have to finish, and qualification is a pre-requisite to finishing.

As ever, a computer is only as good as the idiot telling it what to do, and I'd be surprised if someone doesn't come up with a mistake somewhere along the line. leagues@sroc.co.uk

Herewith (see below) the Provisional results for the 2011 RTV & CCV leagues. No Comp league, as, well, we haven’t had a comp

The RTV League was nip and tuck all the way, with any of three drivers in with a shout at the last event at Elham; Miles Jenner, Andy Baitup & Mike Leonard. Miles couldn’t make it and as he was second in the league behind Andy, this effectively ruled him out. It wasn’t a given for Andy though by any means and we all know Mike can put up a fight from the comfort of his Range Rover. But it seems that move from diesel to petrol power has suited Andy as he won the league in style, by winning at Elham.

The CCV was even tighter going into the Elham weekend, between Terry Buss & Dave Green. Dave was ahead going into the event with Terry having to win, and hope that Dave had an off day. Well by his standards, Dave did have an off day, and going into the last section, Terry was winning the event and the league with it, right up the point he got to the four gate. Then as the saying goes the wheels came off… Terry finished third, with Dave having done enough and defended his title.

Martin Leonard (he of the second time winning Majors team) was the best of the rest in third place.

It’s fantastic to see that there are some great rivalries, with some greater friendships. With everything to loose, Andy offered Miles the use of his vehicle to compete in at Elham. If Miles had taken the offer up, it could have easily worked out very differently.

It’s pretty well known that Dave & Terry get on well, but they still had a fair old scrap between them.

Lets hope we have another year of great sporting rivalry next year.

You will also see that the Qualification sheet shows those people that helped out at enough events to be rewarded with an item of “Team Southern” clothing. This is in line with the 2011 AGM when it was decided to drop the old “Groat” system for something much simpler, and the scheme was detailed in the last magazine. In summary, those that have done enough will be entitled to up to a T-shirt, a Polo Shirt a Sweatshirt or a Fleece. For example, if you are showing Fleece in the right hand column, you can have any one of the items listed. If it says Polo, you can have a Polo or a T-shirt. As this clothing is exclusive to those that have “earned” it, you cannot buy up to the next level. Our Club Shop Manager will be in touch before the AGM to see what item, in which colour you would like.

These leagues will remain Provisional until the end of January 2012, so should you find any errors or omissions, please get in touch before then. After this, they will be declared final. In the meantime, ‘Tis the season to be jolly (some more so than others), may your Christmas be merry and your New Year happy.

Cheers,

Dave
